Girls Rugby Festivals: Building Skills, Teamwork, and Community Spirit

Year 7, 8, and 9 girls enjoyed rugby festivals filled with fun, teamwork, and resilience.
On Friday 28th February, a group of the Year 7 and 8 girls took part in a Rugby Festival, bringing together young athletes from various schools for a day of competition, teamwork, and fun. The event was aimed at encouraging more girls to participate in rugby and to celebrate the growing participation in youth rugby across Torbay. Within the day we took part in a carousal of fun, rugby-focused warm-ups and drills before learning a new version of Tag Rugby, known as T1. The group of girls showed all three of our school values throughout the day; resilience in the activities, compassion to each other and respect for neighbouring schools. The day was a huge success and the girls can’t wait to try out more sporting festivals like this in the future.
The Year 9 Girls Rugby Festival was a fantastic celebration of skill, teamwork, and community spirit. Held at Paignton RFC on Wednesday 12th March. With a focus on engagement and fun, the festival provided an excellent platform for girls to grow in confidence, showcase their abilities, and enjoy rugby in an inclusive environment. We were lucky to have external rugby coaches provide a carousal of rugby-focussed activities, including drop-kick drills, passing and catching drills and tag rugby games. The group of girls showed all three of our school values throughout the day; resilience in the activities, compassion to each other and respect to neighbouring schools. The group thoroughly enjoyed the day and took part in all the activities. They look forward to taking part in similar offsite trip in the future!
