Safeguarding Children
Designated Safeguarding Lead - Mr Matt Davey
Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead - Jane McEwan
Combe Pafford School fully recognises the responsibility it has under Section 175 of the Education Act 2002 to have arrangements in place to safeguard and promote the welfare of children. Through their day to day contact with pupils and direct work with families, staff at the school have a crucial role to play in noticing indicators of possible abuse or neglect and referring them to the appropriate agency.
We have a Designated Safeguarding Lead who is responsible for making decisions regarding child protection issues.
We will always follow the best practise and when necessary, seek advice from Torbay Education Safeguarding Services (TESS). All staff receive Level 2 Child Protection training every 3 years and have an ongoing programme of Safeguarding Training delivered by the DSL throughout the Year. In addition to this, all staff read the latest version of 'Keeping Children Safe in Education' and undertake an online test to check if they have understood it. Therefore, all staff are aware of their responsibilities to safeguard the pupils of Combe Pafford School.
All new members of Staff have completed our School Induction Process, which includes a meeting with the DSL who ensures that they receive a copy of the latest version of our Safeguarding Policy, Keeping Children Safe in Education, the Behaviour Policy and the Staff Code of Conduct. All adults working in school are also required to complete a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) Enhanced Police Check.
The Child Protection and Safeguarding Children policy is available for anyone to access if required.
